According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, exports of cashew nuts to markets in 1/1818 increased sharply 71% in volume and 93% increase in turnover over the same period in 2017 and also increased 1.5% in volume and 2.8% in turnover over the end of 2017, reaching 30,912 tons, equivalent to 316.96 million USD.
Cashew exports increased sharply in value, value and export prices in January also reached a relatively high level of 10,253.6 USD / ton, up 12.7% over the same period in 2017 and increased by 1.3% over with the end of 2017.
The United States still maintains the leading market for Vietnamese cashew nuts, accounting for 30% of the country's total export volume and total cashew nut exports, reaching 9,238 MT, worth $ 96.21 million. USD, up 52.2% in volume and 67.5% in value over the same period in 2017. Cashew nut exports to the US reached $ 10,414.5 per ton, up 10%.
China overtook the Netherlands, ranked second in terms of consumption of cashew nuts in Vietnam, accounting for 20% of the total and export turnover of cashew nuts of the country, reaching 6,355 tons, valued at 62.73 million USD. , up by 86% in volume and 101% in value. Exports to China rose 8.3% to $ 9,871 a tonne.
Netherlands ranked third in the market with 3,566 tonnes, equivalent to 39.87 million, accounting for 12% market share, up 71.4% in volume and 105% in turnover. Export price reached a relatively high level 11,182 USD / ton, up 19.7%.
In the first month of this year, cashew nut exports grew very well in most markets; The most prominent is the Taiwanese market, with an increase of 572% in volume and 596% in turnover, although turnover was only 242 tons, or US $ 2.53 million. In addition, there are many markets that have increased over 200% in volume and turnover such as Istael, Italy, Hong Kong, Spain, Canada, Norway.
Demand for cashew nuts in the world is expected to continue to increase, cashew in 2018 will remain high. These are favorable factors for the export of cashew nuts in Vietnam.
Exports of cashew nuts to the US market in 2018 will continue to grow, as demand for these commodities remains stable and slightly increases. In the EU, the export of cashew nuts is expected to remain good in 2018 as the economies of some EU member states are recovering, demand for commodities will increase.
On the world market, supply and demand of cashew nuts on the world market did not fluctuate sharply, the price of cashew was stable and increased slightly in the first half of February/2018. In India, in early February, the price of cashew nuts was stable compared to the end of last month. Specifically, prices of WW180, WW210, WW240, WW320 cashews stabilized at Rs 1,087.5 a kg, Rs 980 a kg, Rs 907.5 a kg, Rs 815.5 a kg.
In Vietnam, WW320 and LWP cashew nut price stabilized at $ 4.7 / lb and $ 3.7 / lb. WW450 cashew nut prices increased slightly by 0.03% to $ 4,475 / lb.
In Binh Phuoc, the price of human W240 is 280,000 VND / kg, W320 type is 260,000 VND / kg, increased about 20 - 30 thousand VND / kg compared to previous. In Dong Nai, the price of dried cashew nuts is about VND 41,000 / kg - 42,000 VND / kg. The demand for raw materials from the factories for the Tet holiday increased, the supply limited at the time of borders, so the price of water in the country increased.
In the coming time, the price of cashew nuts will increase slightly as the demand for new crop of Vietnam and India increase while harvesting season in West Africa rather late.
