Exports of deep-processed products tend to increase
The information was provided by Mr. Dang Hoang Giang, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas) at the press conference on production and business of the first quarter of 2018 held on 5/4 in Ho Chi Minh City. HCM
Accordingly, in the first two months of the year, through the statistics of the General Department of Customs, deep-processed cashew nuts are exported quite a lot. In addition, organic cashew nut is also exporting very well with a weight of about 1% in the first 2 months. In particular, organic cashew kernel export price is higher than normal cashew kernel about 2 USD / lbs.
However, Giang also said that the export of organic cashew is mostly made by FDI enterprises. Vietnamese enterprises also exported but in very small proportion.
In addition, to be recognized as organic cashew kernels, businesses must use organic ingredients. There is an organic certification organization of America, Europe ..., but the area of organic farming in Vietnam is not much. In addition, according to Giang, that organic certification is recognized in the new import market is important.

Enterprises are stepping up their investment in deep-processing products. |
On deep-processing products, Le Quang Luyen, head of the Vinacas Finance Department, said that cashew producers are paying great attention to deep-processing cashew nuts. However, the major market for cashew nut processing is China and the domestic market. In difficult markets such as the US and Europe, the proportion is still small, only a few large enterprises with traditional markets can export to these countries.
Therefore, most of the companies are investing in production and search market. Because European and American businesses have very strict requirements and are very afraid of microbial problems, they have long been buying cashew kernels for processing and marketing.
In 2018, Vinacas set the target of "increasing quality and reducing quantity", focusing on deep processing for sustainable development of the cashew industry. Accordingly, the export plan for 2018 is 300,000 tons, instead of 362,700 tons as in 2017. That corresponds to the turnover of $ 3 billion in 2018, lower than the $ 3.62 billion compared to the previous year. .
According to a report by Vinacas, in the first three months of 2018, cashew nut exports reached 74,570 tonnes, valued at $ 758 million, up nearly 34 percent in volume and nearly 47 percent in value over the same period in 2017. In comparison with the plan, cashew nut export has achieved 25% of both quantity and value.
In terms of imports, in the first three months of 2018, enterprises also imported raw materials of 196,756 tons valued at over $ 439 million, up 16% and 29% respectively over the same period last year.
