On the development strategy, Binh Phuoc has established the Steering Committee for sustainable development. In June 2016, the province has also approved the project of cashew development to 2020, thereby increasing the area of ​​the current 143,000 hectares to 180,000-200,000 hectares, focusing on building high yielding areas from 2 - 3 tons / ha. The province also encourages intensive processing to increase the value of cashew products, contributing to increase export turnover of Binh Phuoc in the coming time.

Actually, the imbalance between processing capacity and domestic raw materials has not only happened recently, but has been happening for decades now. Area of ​​land for cashew trees decreased due to the competition of many other crops (rubber, coffee, pepper ...), output in 2016 of Vietnam is only about 460,000 tons, while processing industry in The country consumes 1,556,000 tons of raw materials.

If production is at full capacity, the cashew industry can process up to 2 million tons per year, accounting for two thirds of global cashew processing capacity. This is the result of the "revolution" in the improvement of processing machinery of the cashew industry, the transition from manual to automation, labor productivity increased very fast.

According to the survey, this year cashew yield in Vietnam is very low due to the effects of abnormal weather, expected output can be reduced by 50%. I know that in May 2017, the MARD Development Steering Committee will meet in Ho Chi Minh City to assess the situation of the season and at the same time discuss the sustainable solution to prevent the devaluation, The price is losing the season.

In the long run, Vinacas has advised MARD to adopt policies to keep the cashew area (about 350,000 ha) and raise cashew yields to 2 tons per hectare by 2020 (by 2016 to 1.4 tons / Ha, this yield exceeds India and all 11 cashew African countries.Our agency also has a commitment to cooperate with the countries growing and exporting raw materials through Vietnam.
