Not only high productivity, Tuan is happy because the price is very good. Recently, his family has sold fresh things for up to 46,000 VND / kg, dry matter is 60,000 VND / kg. This is the price that Nguyen Duc Thanh, Chairman of Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) confirmed the highest ever with raw materials in Vietnam.

According to Thanh, compared to the previous case, in this case, raw material prices in Vietnam are much higher. If in the previous season, the price of fresh cashew is an average of 37,000-38,000 VND / kg, the current fresh cashew is more than 40,000 VND / kg, and most likely in the case, the fresh price will not be less than 40,000 VND / Kg.

Not only raw material price, export price of cashew kernel is also very good. Thanh said that the code of W320 XK to China is up to $ 11 / kg (at the factory in Long An). Previously, the price of coded W320 XK code to China when the highest price is $ 10.5 / kg. The export price is generally $ 9.5 / kg (FOB price). In January, the average price of cashew nuts was $ 9,138 per kg, 22.1% higher than the same period last year.

Lack of raw materials

Prices of raw materials and cashew exports are very high, but many growers are unhappy and businesses are less happy. Why?

Higher raw material prices are more or less the cause of crop failure in many localities. This year, the rainy season is too much, the weather is often cloudy causing pests such as mosquito bugs, red caterpillars ... outbreak in many provinces. Engineer Pham Van Dau, a VINACAS expert, has assessed the seasonal situation in many localities, saying that planting in Da Te, Da Huoai and Cat Tien districts of Lam Dong province may lose 80 seasons. %; Much of the cashewnut area in Binh Thuan and Ba Ria - Vung Tau also reduced productivity.

However, this is not the main cashew growing area, normal yield is still low, so generally not affect much of cashew production in the country (also reduced but not much reduction). However, in the context of material price is high as today, the farmers lost the season in Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau ... certainly experiencing a unhappy season.

Importers (importers) are less happy because of the lack of raw material, due to the limited inventory of raw cashew nuts. That is one of the important reasons for the export of the first 2 months decreased in volume compared with the same period last year. According to the General Department of Customs, in the first two months of this year, exporters were 31,499 tons of cashew kernel, valued at $ 286.325 million. Compared with the same period last year, the amount of cashew kernel exports decreased 9.9%, but the value increased 8.7% thanks to the price of kernel exports increased.

To compensate for the shortage of raw materials, the company had to import crude raw materials soon. In January, 51,343 tons of raw cashew nut was imported to Vietnam, up to 50.99% compared to January 2016. Raw material imports are mainly from Tanzania (36,621 tons), Indonesia (6,086 tons), Ghana (2,482 tons), Ivory Coast (1,993 tons), Nigeria (1,780 tons).

It is worrisome that the price of raw NK from Africa tends to increase, now nearly $ 2,000 per ton. The price of raw materials in the country is high, import price is high, making the industry to carefully calculate the cashew price. Because of the global cashew kernel market, cashew kernels with more than 10 other dried nuts such as walnuts, walnuts, almonds, almonds ...
