Trang Bom District (Dong Nai): Implementing a large field project of intercropping cocoa

On March 21, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Trang Bom District People's Committee and Bamboo Capital Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City) jointly held a workshop to implement the project of planting cashew cocoa in Trang Bom district in 2017.

This project started in 2016 and has supported farmers experimenting with intercropping cocoa in 10 hectares of cashew orchards. According to the initial assessment, this model worked well.

According to the plan of Bamboo Capital Joint Stock Company, in 2017, the unit will support farmers to organize cocoa demonstration orchards intercropping cashew orchards as a point of introduction, technical guidance for farmers.

In it, the project will continue to develop more than 111 hectares of cocoa in cashew orchards, with 55 farmers participating.The project will support farmers 50% of the cost of seedlings, 30% of the cost of installing a watering system; Support for training in cocoa cultivation techniques, cocoa ... Cocoa products will be contracted enterprises to buy at a stable price.

At the workshop, farmers were also asked questions about the incentive program when participating in large fields, such as investment in electricity infrastructure, roads; Incentives in credit loans, product coverage policy ...
